- This is very good news for Kilden and for everyone who loves theater. A lot of positive things have happened since Valborg Frøysnes started her work as theater manager in 2020. Together with good colleagues, she has managed to mark Kilden Teater as increasingly reputable on the Norwegian theater map. It is motivating for us that more and more artists from the top shelf of the performing arts find it exciting to come to us to work, and that her program has received such good reviews, says Furre.
Valborg Frøynes took over as theater manager in 2020. She is now in her third season at Kilden Teater, and although her current contract does not expire until December 2024, she has now signed an extension for another five years.
Valborg Frøysnes herself wants to build on the foundation that has been laid since she started in 2020. When asked what she is most proud of, she points to her talented colleagues at Kilden performing arts centre.
- "I'm most proud of what we've managed to achieve together at Kilden. There are an incredible number of talented people here, and the sky-high level of those who work with the theater productions in Kilden is perhaps what I have been most positively surprised by since I started the job," she says.
Actor Henrik Rafaelsen is a permanent member of the ensemble at Kilden Theatre, and started his permanent engagement at Kilden Theatre at the same time as Frøysnes. He is happy that his boss is continuing in his job.
- "Valborg was a decisive factor in us taking the step of moving home to Kristiansand in order to work here. "She's the best theater manager I've ever had. She's ambitious, with lots of great ideas about theater, and she's very good with the people around her. The fact that she is now staying for another five years, I see as a great strength for Kilden Teater. It will provide continuity and make it possible to take a long-term view of the work," says Rafaelsen.
Valborg Frøysnes was born in 1977 and trained as an actress at Rose Bruford College of Speech and Drama in London and holds a master's degree from Goethe Universität Frankfurt am Main. She has extensive experience as an actor at various theaters in Norway and was for seven years a permanent employee at Teatret Vårt in Molde. In 2010 she received the Hedda Award for Best Supporting Actress for the role of Mariedl in Presidentinnene at Teatret Vårt by Werner Schwab, directed by Frode Rasmussen.
Frøysnes made his debut as artistic director at Kilden Theater in January 2020 with the major production Jonas by Jens Bjørneboe, where Honningbarna was nominated for the Hedda Award for Best Audiovisual Design. Most recently, the production Rosmersholm by Henrik Ibsen was nominated for the Hedda Award for scenography, lighting design and costume design.
