An evening in tribute to Norway's composer and songwriter Rolf Løvland

We're marking his 70th anniversary with a concert dedicated to his long-standing musical career. As one of the country's most successful songwriters, he is responsible for songs such as "You Raise Me Up" and Eurovision winners "La Det Swinge" and "Nocturne". We'll hear a selection of his most famous and beloved compositions in symphonic guise, get to know the man behind the songs, and look forward to several musical surprises and guest appearances.

The evening'shost is the always engaging Hanne Krogh, and we'll enjoy musical contributions from Espen Grjotheim, Elisabeth "Bettan" Andreassen, Cathrine Iversen and Ole Edvard Antonsen. Together with Kristiansand Symphony Orchestra, they ensure atmosphere, quality and musical highlights from start to finish. Welcome to the event!

HANNE KROGH

Hanne Krogh is one of Norway's most distinctive and popular musical figures, with a career spanning five decades and more than two million albums sold. She made her debut at the age of 14 with a victory in the Eurovision Song Contest, and then became a regular on the sales charts with a series of successful solo albums. In 1985, she made Norwegian music history with Bobbysocks and the song "La det swinge", which secured Norway's first victory in the international Eurovision final. She has also been a pioneer in church concerts, creating unique musical concepts such as Hanne & Three Tenorswhich for over a decade filled halls across the country with classical music and Christmas magic. Through countless tours, award-winning children's albums, magnificent summer shows and her commitment to young talent, Hanne Krogh has time and again renewed herself as an artist and consolidated her place as a mainstay of Norwegian musical life.

ELISABETH "BETTAN" ANDREASSEN

Elisabeth Andreassen, also known as "Bettan", has been one of the Nordic region's most versatile and popular artists since 1980. She started her career in Sweden in country and folk music, and broke through with Eliza Band. She became internationally known as part of Bobbysockswho won Eurovision for Norway in 1985. Bettan has excelled in pop, show tunes, bluegrass and musical theater, and has played major roles in musicals such as Sweeney Todd, Phantom of the Opera, Chess and Sophie's World. She has had long-term collaborations with Jan Werner and Lotta Engberg, among others, and has had success with shows such as Musical Highlights, Bettan's Best, and KIKKIBETTANLOTTA. She has released several solo albums, including Moods (1992) and the bluegrass record A Couple of Days in Larsville (2004). Elisabeth has participated several times in the Eurovision Song Contest, toured throughout the Nordic region, and impressed with Christmas concerts and revues. With her big voice, stage presence and range of genres, she has established herself as a pillar of the Nordic music scene.

ESPEN GRJOTHEIM

Espen Grjotheim is known from a wide range of stage, music and TV productions. He has had leading roles in several of the musicals at Folketeateret in Oslo, including "We Will Rock You", "Mamma Mia", "Chess" and recently the critically acclaimed "Miss Saigon". He was also Norway's first and only Phantom in "The Phantom Of The Opera". Espen has visited Kilden on several occasions, including in "Les Miserables", "Art", and most recently in "We Will Rock You".

He has also appeared in several productions outside Norway, both in Germany and the UK, and toured large parts of Europe as a soloist in the show "Fire of dance". He was nominated for Musikkteaterprisen in 2015, 2016 and 2019, and received Broadwayworld's regional award for "Best actor in a musical" in 2018.

Espen is a regular vocalist in Secret Garden, and has participated in several of their recordings and tours, both nationally and internationally.

CATHRINE IVERSEN

For the past 15 years, Cathrine Iversen has been the lead singer of Secret Garden, with several recordings and tours. tours that have taken her from Norwegian stages to major international arenas. In addition to her artist career, she is a dedicated pediatric nurse at Østfold Hospital.

OLE EDVARD ANTONSEN

Ole Edvard Antonsen is considered one of the world's foremost trumpet soloists and one of Norway's biggest international music stars. He has performed as a soloist in more than 40 countries at prestigious venues such as Carnegie Hall in New York, Musikverein in Vienna and Sydney Opera House, and has collaborated with leading orchestras such as the Berlin Philharmonic, London Symphony Orchestra and Tokyo Philharmonic. His musical versatility ranges from classical to pop, rock and jazz, and he has worked with world-renowned conductors and artists such as John Miles and Secret Garden. As a conductor, he has led several orchestras, and since 2006 he has been chief conductor of the Norwegian Air Force Band and later also the Norwegian Wind Ensemble. He has released more than 60 albums, premiered more than 60 works written for him, and in 2007 was appointed Commander of the Order of St. Olav for his contribution to Norwegian music.


Rolf Løvland is one of Norway's most prominent and internationally recognized composers, with a unique career that combines commercial success and artistic impact. He wrote Norway's first two winning songs in the Eurovision Song Contest - "La det swinge" (1985) and "Nocturne" (1995) with Secret Garden - and put Norwegian music on the world map. Secret Garden, which he founded with Irish violinist Fionnuala Sherry, has since become a global crossover and new age phenomenon. Løvland's immortal classic "You Raise Me Up" is considered one of the most successful Norwegian compositions of all time, and has been interpreted by world stars such as Josh Groban and Westlife. With his ability to unite the melodically simple with the emotionally magnificent, Løvland has created a musical legacy few Norwegian composers can match.
