Harding fiddle and Beethoven's Pastorale

Upcoming performances

  • No upcoming performances

Conductor: Tabita Berglund / Soloist: Ragnhild Hemsing, hardingfele

The concert is suitable for beginner listeners of classical music. Narrative and picturesque music reminiscent of our nation's romantic relationship with nature is on the program in tonight's concert.

Johan Svendsen's symphonic poem Zorahayda deals with forbidden love, inspired by the Moorish legend of the "Rose of Alhambra". Geirr Tveitt's Hardingfelekonsert nr. 2 describes the Hardangerfjord, Sognefjord and Nordfjord using folkloric elements.

Beethoven's love of nature is masterfully depicted in the "Pastoral Symphony". It describes, among other things, a trickling stream, birds chirping and stormy weather, but Beethoven himself believed that the work was "more about expression than tone painting".

Tonight's program:
Johan Svendsen: Zorahayda (1874)
Geirr Tveitt: Hardingfelekonsert nr. 2 (1965)
Ludwig van Beethoven: Symphony no. 6, "Pastoral Symphonies" (1808)
