Who has access to art? Who gets to participate in artistic projects? Questions related to gender and cultural background are at the center when the two renowned choreographers Ingri Fiksdal and Solveig Styve Holte create the performance HORDE together with nine girls from Kristiansand aged 15-17. The dance project pops up at Slettheia and Jens Bjørneboes plass on July 8 and 9.
As the title suggests, Fiksdal and Holte want to explore the power of the mass and the herd as an ambiguous phenomenon. HORDE is based on an everyday movement language that creates dynamic patterns, rhythms and displacements through repetition, shifts in tempo, changes in power and direction. Joining the team are costume designers Elnaz and Mahtab Gargari. They are sisters and collaborators, and have worked with artists such as Arif, Astrid S, Amanda Delara and Linni.
HORDE premiered during the opening of the new Munch Museum in Bjørvika, where the participants were young people from Oslo. The performance is now being taken to Kristiansand, where the performers this time are young people from the city.
HORDE is a co-production between Kilden Teater, Kilden Dialog and Fiksdal/Holte. The production is supported by: Bufdir, Kulturrådet, Kulturtanken, FFUK, Oslo Kommune.
