Passing Portrait is a solo dance performance that exalts and scrutinizes a transmasculine body. Being a cis-passing male body means that the world around you recognizes you as a man, without further questioning it. Passing Portrait is about this "allowed" trans body; a body that is young enough, adult enough, big enough, discreet enough, attractive enough, white enough, whole enough, masculine enough. A body that cautiously treads within the boundaries of what's allowed and doesn't challenge the norms for men and women. A body that isn't questioned for its gender identity, and is therefore allowed to be.
The performance recognizes gender and passing as an activity, a rehearsed choreography where this body is the expert.
