Chief conductor Julian Rachlin returns to the podium with a program filled with great classical favorites. In 1917, Sergei Prokofiev had the idea of how Joseph Haydn would have written a symphony if he were alive today. The result was Symphony No. 1, "the classic" - a tribute to Viennese classicism that at the same time challenged the romantic and modernist ideals of the time.

Jian Wang, one of the world's most renowned cellists, performs Tchaikovsky's Andante Cantabile and his elegant Rococo Variations, before ending the evening with Johannes Brahms' famous 2nd Symphony.

Conductor: Julian Rachlin
Soloist: JianWang, cello

Sergei Prokofiev: Symphony No. 1, "The Classical" (1917)
PyotrTchaikovsky: Andante Cantabile (1871)
