Fiolinisten Alexandra Conunova fikk i 2012 sitt gjennombrudd som prisvinner i Joseph Joachim International Violin Competition.
Denne kvelden er hun solist i Jean Sibelius’ personlige og fascinerende fiolinkonsert, preget av dramatikk, romantikk og livlig tematisk fantasi. Den intense finalesatsen har blitt beskrevet som en polonese for tre isbjørner! Den danske dirigentnestoren Michael Schønwandt åpner konserten med landsmannen C.F.E. Hornemans ouverture til operaen Aladdin, og avslutter med Felix Mendelssohns 3. symfoni – inspirert av et besøk på Holyrood Palace i Edinburgh, «where Queen Mary lived and loved».
