Kilden kultur and Kristiansand Jazzvesen present: Sigurd Hole's RORAIMA
RORAIMA was written as a commission for Oslo World in 2020, and premiered in Kulturkirken Jakob during the festival. The work focuses on themes such as natural diversity and ecological vulnerability, and draws inspiration from the sounds of the Amazon rainforest and the mythology of the Yanomami people. The music contains field recordings from the rainforest by the American soundscape ecologist Bernie Krause. Joining him to play green notes on the album and the concert are a bunch of exciting musicians and as if that wasn't enough, the evening is lifted by a great visual production by Jan Erik Holto.
RORAIMA was released on record this winter and has already been overwhelmingly well received both in Norway and abroad. The album received a very good review in The New York Times, and the song The Presentation Dance went straight into the newspaper's THE PLAYLIST for week 7. Here at home, the album has received strong reviews in media such as Aftenposten and Dag og Tid. In addition, the album was recently awarded the prestigious German Record Critics' Award.
This is quiet but powerful music, and enhanced with extra sound and image production, we can promise you a fantastic experience!
