South City Stompers is a newly formed band from Kristiansand.
The band radiates joy of playing and emphasizes musical quality. The music they play is the good old popular/dance music from the 1920s, 1930s and 1940s.
If you like artists like Louis Armstrong, Ella Fitzgerald, Duke Ellington, Tommy Dorsey, Billie Holiday, this is the concert to see.
- and if you are curious to "discover" more of the old stars like Maxine Sullivan, Ivie Anderson or Annette Hanshaw, these will also be presented to those who come.
The band is led by trumpeter Torbjørn Liene, who has experience from a number of bands, including Christiania12, Jazzistocrats, Bayou Blue, HodgePodge and New Orleans JazzCab.
Vocalist Jannicke has a beautiful voice that suits the concept perfectly, and she has received a lot of praise at the jazz clubs where she has performed.
The rest of the band consists of experienced musicians with experience in several bands and genres.
