A starving poet. A raven. An awful lot of dying virgins. British cult band The Tiger Lillies hug Edgar Allan Poe to their chests, brush his hair and laugh at his macabre jokes.
Loosely based on Poe's stories and poems, and inspired by his tumultuous and tragic life, the concert performance maintains the author's own black sense of humor as we travel the inner paths of his soul.
In a ghostly palace, a young poet meets the devilish Raven, who supplies him with an extra dark ink that guarantees honor and glory. The poet writes feverishly and soon runs out. Desperate for more ink, he rushes through the many corridors and halls of the palace. In each room there is a story, a poem, a page of Poe's imagination, and everywhere there are dying maidens.
The Tiger Lillies, notorious and famous for raw passion and a distinctive sound with references to opera and gypsy songs, make music at the intersection of the offensive and the brilliant. The band promises a visual nightmare and a bizarre musical extravaganza as they and two actors dive into the unfathomable, ugly world of Edgar Allan Poe.
