Christmas is filled with magic, excitement, and anticipation. This year, Kilden is Kilden to the brim with artists specially selected to give you that warm, cozy pre-Christmas feeling.

The program truly has something for everyone, featuring everything from lively children’s concerts, dark humor, lighthearted humor, and traditional Christmas concerts to more unconventional Christmas events. But be sure to act fast—many of the events are nearly sold out.

Carpenter Andersen and Santa Claus November 19

We’re kicking things off in November with “Snekker Andersen and Santa Claus.” This beloved character, created and developed by the great Alf Prøysen, opens this year’s Christmas season with a heartwarming story about the carpenter and Santa Claus. A wonderful show for the whole family.

Small Talk, November 19

On the same day, Kilden will premiere its own production, “Small Talk – Ring in Christmas with the Dvergsnes Family.” The show, which is based on the short film “Small Talk,” introduces the concept of “Pillow Theater” for the first time and combines both lighthearted and dark humor in one package. The film has garnered fantastic reviews and won several awards; with such a track record, the bar is set high. This is a production that many will enjoy, especially those familiar with family dinners where the conversation around the table flows as thickly as cold syrup.

Journey to Bethlehem on November 24

The audience favorite “All the Way to Bethlehem” is finally coming to Kilden. For 35 years, Asbjørn Arntsen’s Christmas musical“…All the Way to Bethlehem”has been performed on various stages in Kristiansand and throughout Norway. Now, this time-honored and beloved production is finally being staged at Kilden as this year’s Christmas show. A delightful gem suitable for the whole family. Additional performances.

Superbandet's Christmas on November 26

Get ready for a musical Christmas show featuring songs from your childhood that both kids and adults know well. Superbandet has been a huge hit with concerts in kilden since 2016, so don’t miss your chance—tickets are selling out at record speed.

A Swing-Filled Christmas with the Christianssand Big Band. December 2.

Get into the holiday spirit with one of Norway’s leading big bands, joined by the Solholmen School Children’s Choir. There will be Christmas music, Christmas fun, a Christmas big band, a Christmas party, and, of course, a festive atmosphere. The evening’s conductor is trumpeter and University of Agder lecturer Tore Bråthen.

“An American Holiday” with Adam Douglas. December 3

The beloved artist Adam Douglas welcomes you to his Christmas project, “An American Holiday.” Here, Adam will introduce Norwegian audiences to traditional American Christmas music. A festive atmosphere is guaranteed.

Christmas with the Nordic Tenors. December 6

The Nordic Tenors are ready to present a diverse Christmas repertoire rooted in the holiday spirit and tradition. Joining them is an up-and-coming video artist who will help create that authentic—and essential—wonderful Christmas atmosphere.

Bjøro and Miriam's Advent Concert. December 6.

The married couple Bjøro and Miriam Hildebrandt are back for another successful performance, serving up a mix of Christmas classics. Get ready for a wonderful Christmas atmosphere!

Eva Weel Skram: Falling into Peace – A Christmas Concert. December 7

Six years ago, Eva Weel Skram released her first Christmas song; in recent years, she has started a welcome tradition of performing Christmas concerts featuring all her Christmas favorites.

One of her first songs with Norwegian lyrics was “Selma’s Song” for the NRK series “Snøfall.” The song has long since earned its place among the new Norwegian Christmas classics.

The day after Eva treated us to some Christmas classics, it’s time once again for two of our most beloved artists. Karoline Krüger and Sigvart Dagsland invite you to a Christmas concert featuring six of the country’s leading musicians. It promises to be an evening filled with humor and Christmas spirit.

Handel’s Messiah with the KSO on December 8 at the Cathedral.

Ever since its premiere in Dublin in 1742, George Frideric Handel’s oratorio *Messiah* has been immensely popular, performed countless times during the Christmas season. This time, we invite the audience to sing along with the Hallelujah Chorus. Together with the cathedral choir and members of the KSO, Rolf Gupta and four outstanding soloists will ensure a memorable and atmospheric evening.

A Christmas show for the whole family! Now that Fantorangen has finished controlling the snow robot in Maskorama, she’s finally taking the stage here at Kilden Margrethe Røed and Selma Ibrahim, known from NRK Super and MGPjr. Suitable for ages 3 and up.

Oslo Gospel Choir – A Star Shines Tonight. December 9

The Oslo Gospel Choir hardly needs any introduction. They are perhaps Norway’s foremost ambassadors of the Christmas message and spirit. For many, the Oslo Gospel Choir’s Christmas concert is a cherished Christmas tradition.

Christel Alsos. December 10

The beloved Christel Alsos is finally Kilden on stage at Kilden and ready to bring the audience together around our shared (Christmas) stories and traditions.

Bugge Wesseltoft with Hilde Hefte. December 13

Bugge Wesseltoft’s “It’s Snowing on My Piano” was released in 1997 and has since become a modern Christmas classic for many people. Tonight, Bugge will be joined by Southern Norway’s queen of jazz, Hilde Hefte.

Between Christmas Baking and Angelic Singing. December 13

The concert takes place on St. Lucia’s Day itself, a pre-Christmas tradition at Seniorkilden, and features close collaboration with the UiA Chamber Orchestra, Spinn Dance Studio, Maurtua Preschool, and talented young soloists.

Once again, Birte Myhrstad and Asbjørn Arntsen are bringing it all together. We can't wait!

“Ringe inn” – Showing the Way with Lars Bremnes & Maria Haukaas Mittet. December 14

This Christmas 2022, Lars and Maria are hitting the road together again—and for the first time on a Christmas tour! “Ringe inn” is the title of the Christmas album they released together on November 12, 2021, inspired by the church bells ringing in Christmas and a wish that everyone might find a place to belong when the world is at its darkest. Through the songs in the concert, you’ll meet characters ranging from the waiter at the Christmas dinner table, to the priest who doesn’t like Christmas trees, to the baby Jesus in a parking garage.

Secret Garden Christmas Concert. December 16

Secret Garden is repeating last year’s success and heading out on a Christmas tour again this year! With original music, Secret Garden offers a unique Christmas concert. In 2020, the first part of the album “Sacred Night” was released—a collection of new Christmas songs that was described by Aftenposten as “the best new Christmas album of the year.” In 2021, the group completed the Christmas album with five more new songs. Southern Norway’s own star, Espen Grotheim, will be on stage alongside Secret Garden at Kilden.

Else & Markus Ring in the Christmas season. December 17

Else and Markus love Christmas and are setting out on a tour to spread the Christmas spirit among the Norwegian people! There’ll be fun and games, there’ll be music, and of course, there’ll be gifts! After a wild evening, the peace of Christmas can finally settle in. You’ll probably need a little peace and quiet afterward, at any rate.
