Kilden is a key guardian of the classical opera tradition, but we are also deeply committed to innovation.
Kilden (formerly Opera Sør) is a key guardian of the classical opera tradition, but we are also deeply committed to innovation. We believe that viewing old classical operas in a new light does not conflict with being a guardian of tradition. Kilden produces and presents opera in various formats: full-scale operas, opera concerts, musical theater, chamber operas, and guest performances. We collaborate with creative and renowned artists who can create exceptional artistic experiences that resonate with both a modern audience and the traditional opera audience.Kilden ensures that all artists we invite to work at Kilden optimal artistic working conditions. We are also committed to giving young Norwegian singers the opportunity to grow as opera singers through collaboration with more experienced international singers. Kilden is a recognized, credible, and respected producer and partner in music-related performing arts.
Since 2008, Kilden has been led by Frøydis Emilie Lind, the former long-time director of the International Church Festival.
