Kilden & Competence Center
In the performance “Ikke A4,” the audience heard the voices and stories of seven young people who didn’t quite fit the “A4” mold. It was a participatory performance, where the script was based on the participants’ reflections on their own lives and themes that concerned them, such as participation, exclusion, friendship, meaning, and coping. The participants were all on stage, along with a pianist and a dancer.
The stories were meant to offer new perspectives and help the audience understand a little more about both themselves and one another. Stories that would move, teach, and inspire people.
The participants were recruited from Kristiansand Katedralskole Gimle, Dahlske Upper Secondary School, Søgne Upper Secondary School, and Kvadraturen Upper Secondary School, as well as from among young people who had previously attended these schools.
“Ikke A4” was based on Kristiansand Katedralskole Gimle’s long-standing commitment to art as a tool for participation, understanding, and inclusion, and on Kilden performing arts centre focus on collaborative art through Kilden .
“Being part of A4 means a great deal to me. I think it’s one of the greatest experiences of my life.”
