HOW DO WE LIVE TOGETHER WHEN WE DON'T SPEAK THE SAME LANGUAGE?
Being multilingual, and living in a multilingual world, is part of everyday life for many people, but both the theater and the public space are usually monolingual. Language is closely linked to our own identity, self-understanding and how we are perceived by others. How does language change us, our personality, our relationships, power relations, status and hierarchies? How does society meet us through language and how do we meet society? And what happens to close relationships when the linguistic starting point is different?
Three performers explore multilingualism together with stage artist Maritea Dæhlin using song, text, music, written language, dance, poetry and sound in a performance that moves beyond the classical framework of theater.
All the performers, both on and off stage, have different linguistic backgrounds.
