Get ready for KRS Jazzfest on September 9

An impressive lineup of regional jazz artists will take the stage at Kilden the KRS Jazzfest 2021: Hilde Hefte, the Runar Nørsett Trio, Lars Jakob Rudjord, Bernt Moen, Christer Fredriksen, the Espen Grundetjern Quartet, and the Hilde Nordbakken Trio.

– Never happened before

“We’re really excited to bring all these artists together in Kristiansand on a single evening. I don’t think that’s ever happened before,” says Daniel Stamnes, director of Kilden .

KRS Jazzfest gets underway even before the concerts begin on stage. First, guests are invited to a jazz prelude at Restaurant Frihavn, featuring a jazz DJ and a “Dine Out Week” special on the menu.

– “This will be a great opportunity to meet like-minded people and enjoy each other’s company before the action kicks off on stage,” says Stamnes.

Superband

Following the concerts at Kilden , the festival Kilden on to Teateret in Kongensgate, where the audience will be treated to the commissioned work that was premiered at Vossajazz in 2019. The piece *Ekhidna* will be performed by Hedvig Mollestad Thomassen, Susana Santos Silva, Marte Eberson, Erlend Slettevoll, Ole Mofjell, and Torstein Lofthus. The concerts are presented by the local concert promoter Dirty Old Town.

Ekhinda has received rave reviews both nationally and internationally, and jazztrail.net sums up the project and bandleader Hedvig Mollestad as follows: “Ready to conquer the scene with refreshing, powerful music, Mollestad deserves all the attention she can get. And she damn well rocks!”

Open stage

KRS Jazzfest 2021 wraps up with “Open Stage” at Hos Naboen on Markensgate, where Kristiansand Jazzvesen holds most of its concerts.

– “We’re excited to see how this type of festival is received, but we hope it can become a regular annual event here in the city,” says Stamnes.
