KSO on tour in Agder
A chamber orchestra consisting of 24 musicians from the Kristiansand Symphony Orchestra (KSO) will embark on a tour of Agder this fall, hoping to cement its position as the region’s orchestra.
“Going on tour with so many musicians isn’t something we’ve had the chance to do every year. That makes it even more exciting to be able to do it this fall,” says Pål Svendsberget, director of the KSO.
“We want to be an orchestra for the entire region, and even though we have audiences from the region at our concerts at Kilden, we think it’s great to be able to go out and play for people in their own backyard. We hope and believe we’ll be well received by the audience out there,” he continues.
The concert program ranges from music familiar to most people to pieces that will be new to many, by composers such as Edvard Grieg, Carl Nielsen, Sergei Rachmaninoff, Bohuslav Martinu, and Astor Piazzolla.

Greater presence in the region
From October 3 to 13, the musicians will tour Agder, visiting Lyngdal, Grimstad, Birkeland, Vennesla, and Evje. The tour is part of Kilden’s Kilden i Agder” initiative, which in recent years has led to a much greater presence outside of Kristiansand. In addition to Sinfonietta, the KSO will present chamber concerts in Flekkefjord and Lillesand during the fall months.
