The Kristiansand Symphony Orchestra Heads to Madagascar

The idea of using music for more than just entertainment led to the creation of “Musikk gir liv” (Music Brings Life)—a nonprofit organization founded in 2016 by musicians from the Kristiansand Symphony Orchestra.

Updated the vaccine passports

Six musicians from the orchestra are traveling to Madagascar tomorrow, December 9. On this trip, Kjell Åge, Andrea, Armando, Leonardo, Anne, and Ingrid will visit the Mozika Manova Fiainana music school to teach the children and prepare for a joint Christmas concert. Through the organization, they support music schools in impoverished parts of the world that provide children with education, personal development, security, and a sense of belonging.

Only one in three children completes elementary school

Madagascar is one of the world’s most challenging countries for children to grow up in. The Mozika Manova Fiainanasmusic school was founded by the Norwegian violinist Eline Rodvelt Hansen and provides children with music lessons and instruction in core academic subjects, as well as medical care, food, and clothing.

MUSIC GIVES LIFE currently supports two music schools: Music for Life Foundation (Immanuel Music School) in Bangkok, Thailand, and Mozika Manova Fiainana in Antsirabe, Madagascar.
The funds we raise are used to pay local teachers and to purchase instruments and equipment.
