Anneli Drecker

Anneli Drecker (b. 1969)is a singer, composer, and actress from Tromsø, best known as the frontwoman of Bel Canto, which she co-founded at the age of 16 alongside Nils Johansen and Geir Jenssen. The band achieved great national and international success with its combination of electronic music, folk music, and Drecker’s distinctive vocals. In the spring of 2025, they made a comeback with the albumRadiant Green.

In addition to Bel Canto, Drecker has pursued a solo career and collaborated with artists such as A-ha and Röyksopp. She has also worked as an actress, composed music for film and theater, and was a freelance artist at Hålogaland Teater (2009–2022).

As a vocalist, she has appeared on five of Ketil Bjørnstad’s albums, featuring lyrics by John Donne, Hart Crane, and Lars Saabye Christensen. She has also been a guest vocalist on several international releases, including Jan Bang’s*Reading the Air*(2023).

Drecker currently teaches at the Department of Music at Kristiania University College and at the Conservatory of Music at UiT The Arctic University of Norway.
