Guro Utne Salvesen

Guro Utne Salvesen is a soprano, folk singer, and creative performing artist from Moi in Rogaland, currently living in Tromsø. She completed her master’s degree at the Norwegian Academy of Music in 2019, specializing in classical singing, folk singing, improvisation, and contemporary music inspired by folk singing traditions.

As a singer, Guro works both as a soloist and a professional ensemble singer, and she regularly performs with ensembles such as Vokal Nord, the Norwegian Women’s Choir, and Kilden . She is also a member of the folk singing trio Aurom, which has released several albums.

For Guro, one of the most fascinating aspects of ensemble singing lies in those moments when the voices blend together and the ensemble is perceived as a single, unified sound. One of her greatest artistic dreams is to collaborate with composer, singer, and multidisciplinary artist Meredith Monk.

In her free time, she finds great joy in swimming and floating, summer and winter alike, in both cold and warm water.
