Kari Gravklev
Kari Gravklev is a set and costume designer. She has had a long career, both nationally and internationally, and has worked at most of the theaters in Norway.
From 1972 to 1979, she was a staff set designer at Hålogaland Theater, where her work included set design for Det e hær æ høre tel and Peer Gynt. From 1983, she was a permanent set designer at Det Norske Teatret. For Det Norske Teatret, she has designed sets for, among others, Antigone, Three Sisters, Lerka Jeanne d’Arc, Macbeth, Beautiful, The Seagull, Grief suits Elektra and Woyzeck.
At the National Theatre, she has directed productions such as Medea, The Wild Duck, Hedda Gabler, Rosmersholm and I Am Disappearing. Other works include Lulu at Trøndelag Theatre, When We Dead Awaken at Rogaland Theatre, Nothing of Me at Stockholm City Theatre and Good Will, Oedipus and Antigone at the Royal Dramatic Theatre.
Kari’s work spans a wide range of genres, including chamber plays, opera, dance, and musical theater. She also designed the costumes for the opening ceremony of the 1994 Winter Olympics in Lillehammer. In 2003, she received the Hedda Award for Best Set and Costume Design for the set design of Seie-seiarens Song.
Kari previously worked at Agder Teater in 2006 as a set and costume designer for Brand in Fjæreheia. Oedipus/Antigone is her first production at Kilden .
