Mehda Zolfaqari

Mehda Zolfaqari is a performing storyteller from Oslo and a member of Fortellerhuset, Norway’s oldest oral storytelling group.

Mehda holds a degree in storytelling from Oslo and Akershus University College (HiOA), a degree in film and journalism from Edith Cowan University in Western Australia, and a degree in Persian from the University of Oslo. She is currently pursuing a master’s degree at the Faculty of Theology (UiO), where she is researching the use of storytelling in pastoral care (narrative therapy). Mehda has performed in the storytelling theater Abraham in the Bible and the Quran, produced by Den kulturelle skolesekken and the Drammen Sacred Music Festival; The Battle for the Word, a trilingual storytelling theater production by Fortellerhuset where Nynorsk, Sami, and Persian languages, sounds, and movements come together. In addition, she has been the driving force behind a number of bilingual performances directed by Fortellerhuset and the National Center for Multicultural Education (NAFO). 

Mehda has worked at NRK for three years, including on the children's radio program RADIO SUPER. In addition, she has worked as a storyteller for the National Center for Multicultural Education (morsmal.no). She has also worked extensively with religious narratives in dialogue projects. Together with Bible storytellers, she has staged performances based on common figures in the Bible and the Quran and toured schools across the country. In the fall of 2021, Mehda starred in the production *Sheherazade – and the Word That Lasted 1,001 Nights * at Kilden .
