Petronella Barker

Petronella Barker is from Colchester and Fredrikstad and graduated from the Norwegian National Academy of Theatre. Petronella is a permanent member of the cast at the National Theatre in Oslo, where she has played a number of roles, including Cathleen in A Long Day’s Journey Into Night, Natalja in Three Sisters, The Daughter-in-Law in Winter Storage, Mrs. Sørby in The Wild Duck, Tekla in Creditors, Hedda in Hedda Gabler, The Ghost in The Good Earth, Leone in Neger og hunder i kamp and Rebekka West in Rosmersholm —a role for which she received a Hedda Award nomination—Hippolyta/Titania in A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Hermione in The Taming of the Shrew, The Flying Child, The Wife in The Fallen Angel, Sonnets, The Witch in The Journey to the Christmas Star, Donna Elvira in Don Juan, Timmy in The Story of a Marriage, Joy Killer in The Art of Asking, We Must Talk About Faust, Mrs. Capulet in Romeo and Juliet.
At Oslo Nye Teater, she played Ophelia in Hamlet and Edvarda in Pan. Petronella has also played Agnes in Brand at the Gothenburg City Theatre and Genia in De Great vidderna at the Dramaten in Stockholm. She has been employed at the Stockholm City Theatre for periods and has, among other roles, played Rita in Little Eyolf, The Countess Orsina in Emilia Galotti, The Dream Wife in Playing with Fire, Yelena in Uncle Vanya, Merteuil in Quartet and Gellhorn in Gellhorn and Hemingway. Petronella has also appeared in several films and TV series, including including Sweetwater, Thrane’s Method, Hawaii/Oslo, The Troublesome Man, for which she received an Amanda Award nomination for, Victoria, Swedish Bastard and Code Name Hunter.
In 2022, she will appear as Ljubóv in The Cherry Orchard atby Kilden .
