Yngve Søberg

“Absolutely outstanding,” wrote the Morgenbladet reviewer of Yngve Søberg’s portrayal of Enrico in Lucia di Lammermoor. During the 2019–2020 season, critics praised him for his portrayal of Rigoletto at the Norwegian Opera & Ballet, and NRK described his powerful performance as an “unforgettable experience.”
After studying at the Norwegian Academy of Music and the Royal Danish Opera Academy, Yngve made his debut in the role of the Mandarin in Turandot at the Copenhagen Opera. His first role at DNO&B was the Sacristan in Puccini’s Tosca. Since 2010, he has been one of the resident soloists and has sung roles such as Cesare Angelotti in Tosca, Amonasro in Aida, Germont in La Traviata, Sharpless in Madama Butterfly, Marcello in La Bohème, Escamillo in Carmen, Giorgio Germont in La Traviata, the title role in The Marriage of Figaro and Masetto in Don Giovanni.
During the 2018–19 season, he made his debut as Rigoletto in Florence under the baton of conductor Fabio Luisi, and as Sharpless in *Madama Butterfly* in Zurich, also with Luisi conducting.
Yngve Søberg has made a name for himself in several singing competitions and was a finalist in the Belvedere Competition in 2007. With a concert repertoire that includes Handel’s Messiah, Mozart’s Requiem, Fauré’s Requiem, and Beethoven’s SymphonyNo. 9, he is also a sought-after concert singer.
