Litteratursalong med Birger Emanuelsen
Welcome to a new literary salon at Frihavn!
This evening, we’ll be joined by author Birger Emanuelsen in conversation with Irene Gressli Haugen. Together, they’ll explore what it means to write from a particular place, how landscape and a sense of belonging shape stories, and what stories emerge when one draws on one’s own roots.
Birger Emanuelsen (b. 1982) is from Tromøya and is considered one of the most distinctive voices in contemporary Norwegian literature. He made his debut with *For riket er ditt* in 2012 and has since published several critically acclaimed novels, essays, and nonfiction books. He has received both the Sørlandet Literature Prize and the Youth Critics’ Prize. In 2025, he published the novel *Odysseen*, which was hailed as one of the year’s strongest book releases and awarded the Riksmål Prize.
The ticket includes a delicious dinner at Restaurant Frihavn. The restaurant opens at 6:30 p.m.
