Welcome to a new season

Welcome to a new intensive season with Kristiansand Symphony Orchestra! It is a true pleasure to work with this relatively young, cosmopolitan group of distinguished instrumentalists who are growing together more and more, continuously delivering great musical experiences.

The 2015 / 2016 performance year has offered many highlights of various kinds. A whole host of artistic highlights, of course, but also some that were touching in a different way, such as the interaction and warm relationship between young people with significantly different abilities in the SPOR project. Or the unreserved joy of the toddlers who got to try conducting, playing instruments and making snake trumpets during Children's Music Day. These projects, which we will continue to develop during the 2016 / 2017 season, demonstrate the breadth and flexibility of a professional symphony orchestra, as well as the indomitable power of music and its ability to touch and unite. Chief conductor Giordano Bellincampi, who opens and closes the 2016 / 2017 season, has six concerts focusing on the Romantic era of the 19th century. The season also includes several interesting works from the first half of the 20th century. Among the many prominent soloists are several of our internationally renowned Norwegians. We hope you find the program balanced and attractive and look forward with anticipation to a year filled with positive energy, good atmosphere in Kilden's concert hall and many musical experiences!
