Following an open call, it has now been confirmed that the local artist collective Spektra will be part of Kilden 2025 program with their production *Klagesangen*. “A fantastic opportunity,” says Executive Director Tonje Sannes.

“This will give us opportunities we could never have accessed anywhere else. The workshop facilities here at Kilden, for example, are something we could only have dreamed of before. The idea for *Klagesangen* has been around for a while, but its scale has made it impossible to realize until now,” says Sannes.

She is one of three key figures in the local artist collective Spektra, which was founded in 2020. Spektra consists of performing artists and visual artists, and the collective recently received rave reviews and feedback for the play *Helix – The Hanging Garden*, which was performed at Kilden January.

Open Call for Proposals

In the fall of 2023, Kilden and Scenekunst Sør issued an invitation to local directors, playwrights, choreographers, and other performing artists from the independent, professional performing arts sector to submit ideas, scripts, and projects. The goal was to find a project that could result in a production to be staged as part of Kilden 2025 program. The project has now been selected.

– We were interested in projects at various stages of development, or fully developed project ideas ready to go straight into production. And we received 24 submissions across all stages. This tells us that there’s a lot of exciting activity happening in the performing arts field in Southern Norway,” says Tonje Steen, communications manager at Scenekunst Sør, the center of excellence for performing arts in Agder.

Important for Kilden

For Kilden , it has been important to take the local performing arts community seriously. Acting Theater Director Jørgen Macdonald is pleased to have established a collaboration that will bear fruit as early as Kilden 2025 program.

– Theater Director Valborg Frøysnes has made it clear from the very beginning how important it is to serve as a resource for the performing arts community in Southern Norway. We have had local performers and companies on stage several times in recent years, but through this collaboration with Scenekunst Sør, we are taking it to the next level. We are very pleased to be able to give talented local performing artists this opportunity, says Macdonald.
