Classics and world premieres at Kilden in 2022

Theater Director Valborg Frøysnes presented the 2022 program for Kilden today. The program ranges from one of the great classics of theater history to a world premiere by Rune Belsvik.

Heimanifrå – In High Heels in June is the title of Kilden major production in 2022. Rune Belsvik returns to the stage with a newly written script about the emigration of women from Agder to America in the 1950s and 60s, a story relevant to large parts of the population in Southern Norway. Directed by Runar Hodne.

Also relevant in the Agder counties is Anne by Paal-Helge Haugen, a musical dramatization of author and poet Paal-Helge Haugen’s award-winning pointillist novel from 1968. The production will tour the Agder region before also being performed atperforming arts centre Kilden performing arts centre is directed by Sullivan Nordrum.

June 18 marks the premiere of the great theater classic The Cherry Orchard by Anton Chekhov. The production, directed by the internationally acclaimed Laurent Chétouane, was only able to stage two performances in 2021 and will therefore be revived in early summer 2022.

– Lots to look forward to

Valborg Frøysnes, artistic director of Kilden , sums up her expectations for 2022 as follows:

“The audience has a lot to look forward to in 2022, with a wide variety of performances and many fantastic artists involved. We’ve been working on several of these productions for a long time now, so it feels especially good to be able to present them next year,” says Frøysnes.

Award-winning

Kilden has previously won awards for its poster series, in which it collaborates with local artists each year to create a cohesive visual identity for the upcoming season. The theater posters for 2022 were designed by Erik and Anna Maria Pirolt. Read more about the poster series here.
