Kristiansand Symphony Orchestra (KSO) is one of the few orchestras confirmed for the highly acclaimed Herbstgold Festival in Austria in September. It is now also clear that the orchestra will give a concert in the Musikverein in Vienna on September 21.
- "This is very big for us. For a classical musician, it doesn't get much bigger than playing a concert in the Musikverein. And it will be extra fun for a Norwegian orchestra to play Grieg in Austria," says KSO Director Pål Svendsberget.
The news comes after it was announced that the orchestra, along with the BBC Philharmonic and other leading names in the classical music world, will perform at the Herbstgold Festival in September 2025.

- Something to look forward to
Svendsberget reveals that they have been working on the possibility of playing in Musikverein for a long time:
- We've been working on this for a while, and luckily an opportunity opened up the day after we played the Herbstgold Festival just an hour away. We really have something to look forward to this fall.
The Musikverein in Vienna is one of the world's most famous concert halls. The building was inaugurated in 1870 and is home to the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra. The Great Hall, also known as the Golden Hall, is famous for its acoustics and is used for the annual New Year's Concert. The Musikverein has hosted world premieres of works by a number of famous composers, including Johannes Brahms, Anton Bruckner and Gustav Mahler, who had several of his symphonies and chamber music pieces premiered there.
