More than 10,000 people watched Heimanifrå!
8574 audience members bought tickets for the ordinary performances, which were played in the period February 4 to April 1. In addition, Kilden Teater was visited by 1582 pupils through The Cultural School Bag.
“These are fantastic numbers, especially during a time when it really hasn’t been easy to sell tickets,” says Kjetil Nordhus, communications advisor at Kilden performing arts centre.
Broad appeal
Heimanifrå - På høge hæle i Junaiten by Rune Belsvik premiered just after the government opened up for more than a maximum of 200 audience members at indoor events.
- We know that many cultural organizers around Norway have struggled to get audiences back into the halls, and I think we have been lucky to have presented a play with such broad appeal in the region, says Nordhus, and says that although there are no statistics on it yet, Kilden is left with the impression that there were many audiences from towns and villages around Agder.
Bus drivers
In collaboration with Norsk Tur, Kilden set up bus tours to transport visitors to Kristiansand from Lista, Kvinesdal, Eiken and Stavanger.
- It was very nice to welcome the audience in that way too. The response was very good around the region, and it is conceivable that we will look at the possibility of doing something similar in the future," says Nordhus.
Heimanifrå was also something as rare as a newly written Norwegian play presented on a main stage. The production was a spectacular musical theater piece about love, dreams, and a new world, featuring eight actors, four musicians, and country legend Bjøro Håland on stage.
