Now in his seventies, he remains one of the country’s most beloved actors. Over the course of his career, he has appeared in some thirty feature films, played approximately 150 theater roles, starred in nearly twenty television productions, released eight to ten CDs, and lent his voice to a wide range of audiobooks and films.
Helge has appeared in hit productions such as *Annie Get Your Gun* (1985), *Jeppe på Bjerget* (1987), *Splint* ( 1989), *Bruredansen* ( 1993), and *My Fair Lady* (1996). He has also played leading roles in hits such asFiddler on the Roof (1998), Cabaret (2000), and Les Misérables (2008).
In 2006, Helge Jordal was knighted as a Knight 1st Class of the Royal Norwegian Order of St. Olav. “His work spans nearly every type of role: classical tragedies, modern rock musicals, absurd contemporary characters, as well as exuberant and quick-witted comedy and revue roles,” stated the Order Council’s assessment.
Helge plays the Old Man of Dovre in this year's production of *Peer Gynt*.
