Mari Kjeldstadli

Mari V. Kjeldstadli is from Oslo and works as a director,, dramaturg, translator and screenwriter 

She has, in recent fewdirected a number of productions at several theaters in Norway, most recently the critically acclaimed I vårt sted by Arne Lygre at Den Nationale Scene in Bergen in 2024. Previously, she has directed, among other works, And the World Will Surely Disappear with Me by Sibylle Berg (Nationaltheatret 2024), The Banquet by Plato (Teater Innlandet 2024), Animal Farm by George Orwell/Tom Silkeberg (Rogaland Teater, 2023), Rosmersholm by Henrik Ibsen (Kilden , 2022)Those Who Leave by Mette Karlsvik and Arne Lygre (Teatret Vårt, 2022) The Land of Chaos based on The History of Bestiality by Jens Bjørneboe (Rogaland Theater, 2021), Jonas by Jens Bjørneboe/M. H. Hallum (Kilden , 2020) and TheRevelation by Mattias Andersson (Rogaland Theater, 2019). She has also directed productions for festivals, such as Semmelweis. Material by Cecilie Løveid (Bergen Drama Festival, 2020) and Telefon by Ariana Reines (Møllebyen Literature Festival, 2017), and has worked as a director on other artists’ concepts, such as Farvann by Numa Edema and Queendom (SPKRBX in collaboration with the National Theater, 2020) and Soul’O by Liv Hanne Haugen (DanseFestival Barents, etc., 2023–25). 

Mari works as a dramaturg for several award-winning playwrights, including Arne Lygre and Camara L. Joof, and has previously...serveda dramaturg at the National Theater (2010–2023) and several theaters in Norway, Sweden, and England. 

Mari made Kilden debut Kilden in 2020, directing the production Jonas, and returned in 2022 to direct Rosmersholm. In 2025, she will direct Ghosts.
