Norunn Standal

Norunn Standal is a set and lighting designer who graduated from the Stockholm Academy of Dramatic Arts in 2010.  

She has been associated with most of Norway’s major theaters, and her most recent work includes set and lighting design for Prima Facie at the National Theater and Kvit Norsk Mann at Vega Scene, as well as Haugtussa at the National Theater in collaboration with the Ruhrtriennale in Germany. For Haugtussa , she was nominated for a Hedda Award in the category of Best Set/Costume Design, and in the category of Best Audiovisual Design, she took home the award together with Thijs van Vuure and Dennis Slot.

Norunn has also done set and lighting design for the productions And the World Will Surely Disappear with Me at the National Theater, Animal Farm at Rogaland Teater, Frankenstein at Oslo Nye Teater,  Someone Is Coming at Trøndelag Theatre and the productions The Wild Duck and Gift at Teatret Vårt in Molde. In 2019, she designed the sets for Hålogaland Teater’s Dream of Autumn, which received the Hedda Award for Best Set Design. 

 In Oslo, she has also designed the lighting for a number of productions, including Time for Joy, The Lehman Trilogy, and Antigone at Det Norske Teatret. Witch Hunt, The 25th Hour and My Brilliant Friend at Oslo Nye Teater and Jordbærstedet, Forbrent, Etter Stillheten and several others at the National Theater.  

 Atperforming arts centre Kilden performing arts centre , Norunnperforming arts centre previously done lighting design and set design for Rosmersholm and lighting design for Hedda Gabler, as well as guest-directing productions from the National Theater, most recently with set and lighting design for the production Prima Facie.  In 2025, Norunn will be presenting the set design for *Ghosts* by Henrik Ibsen at Kilden .
