Young Doo Park

Young Doo Park studied at Kyung Hee University in Seoul and the Hanns Eisler Academy of Music in Berlin. In 2005, he won first prize in the Seoul Symphony Orchestra’s vocal competition, and in 2006, he was awarded second prize in the Korean Broadcasting System’s vocal competition.  

From 2010 to 2012, Young Doo Park was a member of the Opera Studio at the Cologne Opera. The following season, he joined the soloist ensemble at the Cologne Opera, where he performed a number of major roles.  

In the spring of 2013, Park was a finalist in the Francisco Viñas Singing Competition in Barcelona, and at the start of the 2014–15 season, he joined the ensemble at the Staatstheater Wiesbaden, where his roles include Sarastro inThe Magic Flute, Veit Pogner in The Mastersingers of Nuremberg, and Hermann in Tannhäuser, Hunding in Die Walküre, Fafner in Das Rheingold, Oroveso in Norma, Orest in Elektra, Gremin in Eugene Onegin, Bonze in Madama Butterfly and Colline in La Bohème. 

Roles at the Hessisches Staatstheater Wiesbaden in recent seasons have included Orestes in Elektra and King Marke in Tristan and Isolde. Park has also made guest appearances at both the Staatstheater Kassel and the Theater Bern.
