AWARD-WINNING SHORT FILM BECOMES CHRISTMAS THEATER
Film director Even Hafnor from Kristiansand makes his debut as a theater director when Kilden Teater in November and December puts on the performance SMALL TALK - Ring Christmas in with the Dvergsnes family. The director believes many will recognize themselves in embarrassing family situations.
SMALL TALK - Ring Christmas in with the Dvergsnes Family is a performance based on Hafnor's award-winning short film SMALL TALK (2015). Where the short film deals with family parties in the Dvergsnes family's life, and the situations that arise, the theater performance becomes a Christmas party in the same Kristiansand family. This is the director's very first time working with theater. He is excited before it all gets underway.
— It was really fun to be asked to do this. Even though working with the material in a theater will likely be quite different from working on a film set, I’m confident this will be an enjoyable process that results in something people will appreciate. I think many people in Kristiansand and the surrounding area will be able to relate to this kind of family gathering, says Even Hafnor.

"PUTE THEATER"
The film is known for its many embarrassing situations, and now that the story is being adapted for the stage, Even Hafnor believes that the word "pillow theater" could well describe what the audience will experience in Kilden in November and December. - "Pillow TV is a fairly established concept, for example through series such as Klown. Although we may not take it as far as we did in Klown, there will probably be situations in this show where the audience could use a pillow to hide behind," smiles the director.
A different kind of Christmas game
Theater manager Valborg Frøysnes is looking forward to seeing how an already fun starting point will be seen on the theater stage.
- "I saw SMALL TALK at Cinemateket in Oslo several years ago and fell in love with the film's humor and Evens' ability to convey something very recognizable and embarrassing at the same time. Now it's going to be incredibly fun to present this to the audience in a completely different setting," she says.
SMALL TALK - Ring Christmas in with the Dvergsnes family premieres at Kilden Teater on Saturday, November 19 and runs until December 17. The theatre manager believes this will be a performance that will get the audience into the Christmas spirit in a slightly different way . I think this will be very suitable for groups of friends and colleagues who want to have a bit of fun in the run-up to Christmas and don't necessarily need more of what's available everywhere else," says Valborg Frøysnes.
