A few words from Ravnedans: The trio jumps, falls, holds, and tumbles. The dancing bodies take the lead, and the piece comes to life. The performance is musical and features a remarkable sense of timing, full of constant surprises. How does it all come together? A playful and subtle performance about the joy and discomfort of surrendering oneself to others.

In *Calling*, three characters circle each other with equal parts suspicion and intrigue. They have been doing this for some time. Drawn to and repelled by one another, their bodies move away from and toward each other, sometimes with pleasure and at other times with disgust.

Circling and circling, advancing and retreating, moving away and moving toward, closer then farther. They don’t know what is at stake, what it would mean to break the status quo or the rhythm of their patterns. They cannot remain in this limbo much longer, however, and soon they will be overwhelmed by their curiosity…

In *Calling*, choreographer Ofelia Jarl Ortega explores the power dynamics within the collective known as The Field. These dynamics are revealed in all their complexity through choreographic games and playful scenarios. The performers offer themselves to one another to be used, subjugated, or deified, teased, or even pleasured.

Movement Introduction
A Movement Introduction will be held before the performance. Movement Introductions are a physical way to gain insight into some of the methods and principles explored in the performance. Choreographer Ofelia Jarl Ortega will introduce you to some of the exercises the dancers have been working on. It’s a simple and fun way to get to know the work through your body rather than your head!

The introductory session is open to everyone, and no prior experience is required. You won’t break a sweat, and you don’t need to wear workout clothes, but please wear something comfortable that allows you to move freely. Please remove your shoes.

The introductions are free and no registration is required.
Location: The Dance Hall at Kilden
Time: 5:00 PM
Duration: 30 minutes

"Moving Introductions" is inspired by an initiative from Dansens Hus in Oslo and is supported by Cultiva.

Would you like to practice putting your experiences into words? Following four performances at Ravnedans, you’re invited to join the Discussion Club. Here, a small group of audience members gathers to discuss what they’ve experienced. Each audience member’s encounter with a performance is always unique, as we all bring our individual experiences, associations, and perspectives when we view art. Having a shared conversation about the experience can be a fun way to open up the artwork—it can reveal the diversity of understandings and effects a performance can have, and can help you see nuances and reflect on why some things resonated and others did not.

The discussions will be facilitated by critic Anette Therese Pettersen and will take place immediately after the performance. The group will move to a private room, enjoy some snacks, and engage in an informal conversation for about an hour. Since we want to create a safe environment for the discussion, the group is small and limited to 8 people. If you sign up, it is therefore important that you attend or let us know if you are unable to make it.

The initiative is supported by Cultiva and is a collaboration with the House of Literature in Kristiansand and Anette Therese Pettersen’s initiative Porøse Kunstmøter – We should be dreamers.
