A GOLDEN AGE FOR NORWEGIAN ACTING

Due to COVID-19, the 2022 Hedda Award spans two years of performances during a challenging period for Norwegian theater, yet the various stages continue to offer high-quality productions.

“In the performing arts in general, the past two years have confirmed the sense that we are in a bit of a golden age for Norwegian acting,” says Andreas Wiese, the jury’s spokesperson.

“During these two unusual seasons, we’ve seen strong performances from both independent theater companies and institutional theaters. We’re also seeing an increasing number of collaborative productions between independent theater companies and institutional theaters,” he says.

The 2022 Hedda Award will be presented at Det Norske Teatret on June 19.
