Kilden stenger for publikum, men strømmer Nyttårskonserten til alle
The infection situation in Kristiansand and new recommendations from local authorities mean that we are now conducting the New Year's Concert 2021 without an audience, but instead streaming it to everyone, free of charge on YouTube.
All audience members who had tickets to the concerts will be contacted.
– Since March, we have been following the applicable rules and recommendations from both national and local authorities. “Since Kristiansand Municipality has now changed its stance due to a worsening infection situation in Kristiansand, it was the right decision for us to cancel,” says Harald Furre, director of Kilden performing arts centre.
Playing the concert without an audience in the hall
On Sunday, new and stricter COVID-19 measures were announced nationwide, but these allowed for indoor events with up to 200 audience members seated in fixed chairs. Initially, Kilden to hold the upcoming concerts with additional safety measures, but management has now decided to proceed differently:
– We will perform the concert without an audience. We will now share this with the entire region via our YouTube channel on Friday evening at 7:30 p.m. We hope this can serve as some consolation for those who had tickets, and a nice bonus for those who didn’t get tickets,” says Furre.

Multi-instrumentalist and emcee
This year, Kristiansand Symphony Orchestra (KSO) has invited the virtuoso multi-instrumentalist and entertainer Stian Carstensen (Farmers Market) as host and soloist.
Award-winning conductor Peter Szilvay will lead the orchestra through the evening.
Last year, Szilvay won the Critics' Award together with Rolf Gupta and KSO for the performance of Song of the Earth in 2019.
