Kilden part of Thursday's concert with the Kristiansand SymphonyeSymphony 

The concert “Prokofiev’s Ballet Music for Romeo and Juliet” featuring the Kristiansand Symphony Orchestra will take place tonight. However, Rachmaninoff’s Piano Concerto No. 2, in which Russian pianist Andrei Korobeinikov was to be the soloist, has been canceled.

Following new information,performing arts centre Kilden performing arts centre decided onperforming arts centre , November 26, to cancel the portion of the concert featuring Russian pianist Andrei Korobeinikov. 

The decision was made in light of a resolution adopted at an extraordinary board meeting at Kilden February 2022, which states: “To clearly demonstrate our opposition to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, Kilden has decided Kilden cancel performances by Russian artists and ensembles until further notice.”  

“Since then, Kilden’s policy has been to refrain from inviting artists and ensembles who are currently active in Russia,” explains Harald Furre, Kilden executive director.  

Until this week,Kilden intended to go ahead with Thursday’s concert, but after information about the soloist’s ongoing concert activities in Russia came to light, Kilden performing arts centre decidedperforming arts centre cancel the event.  

“The situation in Ukraine has not improved since our decision was made. Russia’s full-scale war is in full swing, and they are committing war crimes in Ukraine on a daily basis. It has therefore not been an option to change our position on this matter,” says Furre.   

On Wednesday, it was announced that pianist Christopher Park would replace Korobeinikov, but he later decided to withdraw out of solidarity with his colleague.

Excerpts from *Romeo and Juliet*, conducted by Andris Poga, will therefore be performed as scheduled. Audience members will be compensated for the shorter program. Information regarding this will be sent to ticket holders via email.
