Presenting newly composed music at the Music Salon

Portrait of musician Michael Krumins.

This coming Friday, it’s time for Musikksalongen Spesial. Kilden’s successful concept, led by Sigbjørn Nedland, will welcome a world-class world musician who will be performing brand-new compositions.

Michael Krumins received rave reviews internationally for his solo debut, *Infinity*, in 2023. Since then, he has performed on stages both large and small in Norway and across Europe. This Friday, he will be a guest at Musikksalongen Spesial, with a very special performance.

“Sigbjørn Nedland challenged me to play music that would complement the lecture he’s giving. And since the lecture is about African music, it was natural for me to start my research by looking into some of the specific stories Sigbjørn will be sharing,” explains Krumins.

A vast ocean

This presented some challenges for the guitarist:

– There’s a vast ocean of documented African guitar music, in addition to an incredible amount of vocal music and drumming. And when I searched for music from different countries, I came across music featuring completely different instruments. I couldn’t even identify some of them. So I decided to let myself be inspired by what I heard and create something new from it.

The "Musikksalongen Spesial" event on Friday will therefore feature brand-new music composed by Krumins, who will also be interviewed at the beginning of the event. He hopes the audience will find the evening interesting.

Unusual

“Sigbjørn Nedland is a dream to listen to, and he’s as knowledgeable as they come. I understand that it’s not common to have live music at Musikksalongen, so we’re hoping for a good turnout from a music-loving audience on Friday,” Krumins concludes.

Michael Smith Krumins has been a performing musician since 1996. He is a trained educator and holds a master’s degree in performance from the University of Agder (2010). In recent years, he has performed in Norway, Germany, the Netherlands, and Greece, and since 2019 he has been affiliated with both the Norwegian Theatre and the National Theatre.
