The most famous and beloved work by the author from Southern Norway

Few poets resonate more deeply in our region than Gabriel Scott. And few works have had a greater impact on both his literary career and his legacy than Kilden, or *The Letter About the Fisherman Markus*. This short novel about humanity’s encounter with nature—and the spiritual potential this holds—has become one of the most beloved stories in Norwegian literary history. In our time, marked by climate change, it remains just as relevant.

The fact thatperforming arts centre Kilden performing arts centre its name from this beloved work makes it all the more special to bring the story back to the stage. In the spring of 2026, it will be staged in an adaptation by Henrik Rafaelsen, who will also appear on stage alongside Lars Emil Nielsen and Mina Try. Following the premiere in Kristiansand, the production will tour throughout Agder, and on May 22, it will be performed at Evjemoen Kino & Scene.

We hope to create a warm and intimate performance that allows the audience to experience the text in all its simplicity.
