SANSEPORTEN
by SPINE FICTION
An imaginative dance performance for children between 6 months and 6 years old.
What if you could smell with your hands or see with the inside of your body? What if you could taste with your back, feel things from a distance, or hear sounds from the other side of the globe?
Sanseporten is a poetic and playful dance performance where the audience is invited into a mysterious universe. Here we encounter two dancers in a sensory, tactile, and vibrant space in constant motion. Nothing is quite as we know it—and everything can be explored!
The performance is inspired by how animals perceive the world in ways completely different from us humans, and draws inspiration from the book *An Immense World* by Ed Yong.
Together with the children, the dancers explore new ways of hearing, seeing, touching, and understanding—in an interactive habitat where dance, sound, light, set design, and costumes merge. At a time when nature and biodiversity are under threat, we ask: Can curiosity about the sensory world of animals foster greater empathy for them?
The performance is created by choreographer Julie Rasmussen, founder of the Ravnedans dance festival and artistic director of SPINE FICTION. With *Sanseporten*, she opens the door to a universe that sparks wonder and invites us to experience the world in new ways.
This Sanseporten performance is part of Kilden’s Relæxt program, which offers an accessible setting designed to make it easier for more people to participate.
Here, you’re allowed to talk loudly, laugh, cry, tap your feet, and shout, and go in and out of the auditorium as much as you like.
Relæxt is a “no shushing” zone.
