As darkness falls over Southern Norway, a familiar light comes on in teatersalen: *The Journey to the Christmas Star*returns to Kilden of 2026!
Sverre Brandt’s beloved Christmas fairy tale, accompanied by Johan Halvorsen’s unforgettable music, is one of the most frequently performed plays in Norwegian theater history—second only to *Peer Gynt*. Directed by Lars Jacobsen, who thrilled audiences with *The Journey to the Christmas Star* at the Folketeateret in 2019, this classic tale is brought to life on our stage.
Experience a beautiful and enchanting tale about Sonja, a brave girl who braves the snow and darkness to find the missing Christmas star—a star the king cursed when his daughter, Princess Gulltopp, disappeared many years ago. On her journey, she encounters dangerous witches, a cunning count, and friendly helpers who guide her closer to the truth. Sonja’s courage and belief in the magic of Christmas become the key to bringing light, hope, and love back to the kingdom.
On stage, Kilden’s actors stand side by side with dozens of children and young people from Ungdomskilden, Knuden, and other local groups—together, they create true theatrical magic and a festive Christmas atmosphere. Welcome to a performance filled with starlight, humor, and light—which is always there, even in the darkest forests.
This performance of *The Journey to the Christmas Star* is part of Kilden’s Relæxt program, which offers an accessible setting designed to make it easier for more people to participate.
Here, you’re allowed to talk loudly, laugh, cry, fidget, and shout, and go in and out of the auditorium as much as you like.
Relæxt is a “no shushing” zone.
The performance itself is not organized; this applies only to the surrounding activities, and everyone is warmly welcome to join in.
