Strong Interest in Interdisciplinary Arts Program at Kilden

This spring,performing arts centre Kilden performing arts centre launched Kilden ,performing arts centre multi-year, interdisciplinary program.

Now, the 250 applicants have been narrowed down to 25. This week, we invited 25 of the applicants to participate in a two-day workshop at Kilden. The goal is to find the right artists who, through the program, will gain experience collaborating across artistic disciplines. “They will work within their own fields, but also create their own and joint projects, such as performances, concerts, and more,” says Pål Svendsberget, director of the Kristiansand Symphony Orchestra.

Following auditions and group work this week, discussions have also taken place between the participants and the artistic directors at Kilden.

– Looks promising for the future

“It has been very inspiring to meet so many talented, dedicated, and generous artists who are all passionate about their respective disciplines and who are also curious about each other’s fields. This bodes well for the future,” says theater director Valborg Frøysnes.

Six participants will soon be selected for the program, which is set to begin in 2027; two musicians (violin and viola), two actors, and one singer will be hired byperforming arts centre Kilden performing arts centre a two-year period. A director has already been appointed.

“It was Anna Sharko, who recently completed a five-year directing program at the Oslo Academy of Theater, who will play a central role in Kilden . Sharko led the two-day session Kilden, so she has gotten to know all the candidates well,” says Frøysnes.

Across 

The starting point and inspiration for the program is Kilden’s unique character, which brings together multiple art forms under one roof: theater (Kilden ), symphonic music (Kristiansand Symphony Orchestra), and classical singing (Kilden Kilden ).Kilden will further explore the possibilities across these art forms.

“We hope to give the participants greater insight into and understanding of each other’s fields of expertise, while also strengthening them in their own disciplines. I also believe that the rest of Kilden be inspired by the program. Many of us are looking forward to this,” says Frøydis Emilie Lind, artistic director of Kilden .
