I thought it was too highbrow for us

“We have to admit that we’ve associated Kilden something a bit highbrow, and maybe distanced ourselves from it a little. But now that Dream Theater was coming, we realized that Kilden is for us, Kilden ,” say friends Tor Kristian and Bjørn.

That's why this is their first time at Kilden.

“I’ve thought about it before, but it never came to anything. I don’t really have any friends who come here that often either,” says Bjørn.

Now they're all settled in, each with a beer
at the bar, waiting for some really energetic music when the concert starts.

“When a big, well-known band comes to Kilden, it’s great to catch their show. It’ll be a really special setting, since they usually play in large concert halls,” Bjørn continues.

“We have high hopes and have been looking forward to this ever since we bought our tickets. This is exactly what it took to get us off the couch back home in Fevik,” laughs Tor Kristian.

Showed photos of Kilden a Mediterranean cruise

Kilden amazing, and it’s fun to show it off. We were on a cruise around Crete, and I showed some photos of Kilden someone we met on board. It turned out he’d been to Kristiansand and that Kilden made a big impression on him. That actually made me feel a little proud,” Sylvi smiles.

She herself loves Kilden says that Mozart is one of her favorites.

– I just got back from a concert with Leif Ove Andsnes, and it was a wonderful experience. Mozart is fantastic! We attended a pre-concert talk with the conductor and learned a bit about the background of the music. It was really interesting to listen to.

Today she’s here with a friend, but she says she also enjoys coming here with her children and grandchildren.

– Today it was classical music, whereas over Christmas I went to a Christmas show with my grandchildren. It’s precisely this wide range that makes Kilden unique.

I feel like I grew up here

“I’m really into classical music, and I’m often at Kilden. I actually feel like Kilden an important part of my upbringing, and I’ve grown very fond of the place. It feels like I belong here,” says 19-year-old Tora Elise.

Her father plays in the KSO, and she says she has taken music lessons from two of the orchestra’s trumpet players.

– That gives me an extra connection to this place. I studied music in high school, and a group of us from school have been here a lot. Just today, I listened to Leif Ove Andsnes with both my parents and grandparents. The concert really lived up to expectations, and it was wonderful to share the experience with my family.

People wearing ties and studs in the same place

“I really enjoy being at Kilden, and the Dream Theater concert we’re about to attend really shows that Kilden for everyone. Tonight, there are people coming out of a classical concert with ties around their necks and people heading into a metal concert wearing studded belts. It’s really cool,” says Tone.

Recently, she has seen *An Enemy of the People*, *A Doll's House*, and the show starring Thomas & Harald.

“I love both theater and concerts, and I come here quite often with friends,” Tone continues.

Her friend Hilde says that she, too, is impressed by the diversity.

– Everyone finds something they like here, and that’s a good thing. Personally, I’m always at Kilden, and now I’m really looking forward to Dream Theater. I started listening to them back in middle school. Their music is incredibly diverse, and you don’t have to be a head-banger to like them, Hilde laughs, adding that she’s curious to see if the audience will stay seated during the concert or if they’ll get up

Frode Tømte (43)

Frode is at Kilden the first time

“I have to admit I don’t have any connection to Kilden, since I’ve never been here before. But I was sitting ready at my computer at 9 a.m. the morning tickets for the Dream Theater concert went on sale, and I managed to buy tickets before they sold out,” says Frode.

It took a world-famous American metal band to get the 43-year-old to visit Kilden the first time.

– It’s really cool that they’re playing at Kilden. I’ve seen them six times before at Spektrum, and I expect this to be a different experience. They’re a band that demands great sound, and I’m sure we’ll get that here. I’m really looking forward to it.

In addition to having high expectations for the concert itself, he has also found time to get excited about Kilden.

– It’s simply an impressive building. Beautiful architecture and a fantastic venue. So if they put on more concerts featuring bands that really grab you, I’ll definitely be back.
