The concert begins at 2:00 p.m.

This afternoon at Gimle Farm, you’ll hear the two established ensembles, Duo Totakt and Trio Morild, perform separately and together as a quartet. The program features Bjarne Brustad’s “Capricci” for violin and viola, Ernő Dohnányi’s “Serenade in C for String Trio,” and Dmitri Shostakovich’s String Quartet No. 7. Common to all three works is the folkloric and humorous quality of their musical expression. But while Brustad’s “Capricci” moves more toward a modern folk music idiom, Dohnányi sticks to Romantic harmonies. Shostakovich’s String Quartet No. 7 is the shortest of all his quartets, yet it contains enough musical ideas and whims to fill an entire symphony! The concert is presented in collaboration with Musikkens Venner Kristiansand.

Doors open for ticket sales at 1:30 p.m.
