Julian Rachlin, who previously served as a guest conductor, will become the orchestra’s chief conductor in 2023. He took over the baton from Nathalie Stutzmann after four years on the podium. Prior to that, the KSO had the honor of having Giordano Bellincampi as its chief conductor from 2013. Bellincampi was officially appointed honorary conductor of the orchestra in January 2020.
Charming. Virtuoso. Engaging. Ambitious. A team player. It’s not hard to find superlatives to describe Chief Conductor Julian Rachlin.
In recent years, Rachlin has established himself as a prominent conductor, appearing with leading European and American orchestras. The Kristiansand Symphony Orchestra has had Rachlin as its chief conductor since the 2022–23 season.

It's free for everyone to follow/subscribe to our YouTube channel where we post recently recorded works, interviews and gold from our rich archive.
