And few works have had a greater impact on both his literary career and his legacy than Kilden, or *The Letter About the Fisherman Markus*. This short novel about humanity’s encounter with nature—and the spiritual potential this holds—has become one of the most beloved stories in Norwegian literary history. In our time, marked by climate change, it remains just as relevant.
The fact thatperforming arts centre Kilden performing arts centre its name from this beloved work makes it all the more special to bring the story back to the stage.
