This evening takes the form of a journey from the finest nuances of the string sound, through the raw energy of the percussion
, and on to full symphonic power.

Heino Eller’s Five Pieces for String Orchestra opens with five short movements that present the strings
in a clear and lyrical close-up.

The centerpiece is Ørjan Matre’s Concerto for Percussion and Orchestra.

The evening concludes with Grażyna Bacewicz’s rhythmic and concise Symphony No. 3.
