SHOULD THE TRUTH BE PURSUED AT ANY COST?
“The Wild Duck is well-acted and entertaining, both funny and tragic, characterized by tight direction and a highly skilled cast” – Bergens Tidende, 5 out of 6
Based on Ibsen’s original text, this production offers a unique perspective on the dramatic and comic genius of Norway’s greatest playwright. Following sold-out runs in London and Bergen, this new production of Ibsen’s *The Wild Duck* is a co-production between Coronets Theatre, the Norwegian Ibsen Company, and Den Nationale Scene.
In *The Wild Duck*, Ibsen depicts the deadly danger of idealism through the story of a family torn apart by the unravelling of a web of secrets. The arrival of an outsider, whose idealistic mission is to expose everything in the name of truth and honesty, has shocking consequences.
“When we look at ourselves in the mirror in the morning, we suck in our stomachs. When we smile at each other on social media, it’s a fake, filtered smile. We fictionalize and stage our lives for ourselves and for each other—but are we blind to the truth?” – Alan Lucien Øyen, director.
Based on Ibsen’s original text, this brand-new production is performed in Norwegian with English subtitles, featuring an ensemble of some of Norway’s most acclaimed actors, and directed by Hedda Award winner Alan Lucien Øyen.

When family friend Gregers Werle returns to his hometown, he is consumed by a burning desire to reveal the truth—a truth that could put the entire family in danger. “The Wild Duck” is a drama about how an idealistic pursuit of truth and revelations can destroy a family by tearing apart the secrets that held them together.
