Each installment of the Music Salon features a lecture on music history as part of the Kultur/Retur series, presented by Sigbjørn Nedland, but opens with a conversation about music between Kjetil Nordhus and a special guest.
Here, Christmas is celebrated in Arabic, Swahili, and Hindi—and much more. Musikksalongen offers a truly unique Christmas program featuring music from around the world, where themes like Christmas, the winter solstice, reindeer, and sleigh bells meet Pacific Ocean waves and Christmas trees on the beach. From rock to raga, reggae to rap, blues to ballads, jazz to joik—the audience will experience a diversity of Christmas music rarely found anywhere else but at the Music Salon.
We are also inviting some of the many people in Southern Norway who have roots in other parts of the world to share their stories about Christmas music and Christmas traditions from their home countries.
